Online Safety

At Hook Infant School we take our responsibilities very seriously in ensuring your children are kept safe. This includes in both their everyday environments and also in the virtual, online world. As society is becoming ever more entwined in technological advances, our children have a greater access to the internet and at a much earlier age.

Even if your child does not have regular access to the internet, it is vital that we build in an understanding of some of the dangers and the knowledge of how to stay safe online.

We hope to use this page as a library of resources for parents and carers to learn more about e-safety, as well as providing news and information on viruses and other computer security issues.

We will try to update the information on this page regularly, so keep checking back. Scroll down for important news and links to reporting incidents. Check our other eSafety pages here for links and downloadable resources.

Jessie & Friends

The Jessie & Friends animations are age-appropriate and do not depict any situations where adults communicate with children online. Instead, they show safe, non-scary situations which help young viewers identify things which might worry them online. In this way young viewers learn how to identify online behaviour which is ‘not right’, and how to get help by telling an adult they trust. This learning will help keep them safe from many risky situations which they may encounter online. We use Jessie & Friends as part of our PSHE and Online Safety curriculum.

REPORTING ONLINE SAFETY ISSUES

The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) is a Command of the National Crime Agency.

Has someone acted inappropriately towards you online, or to a child or young person you know? It may be sexual chat, being asked to do something that makes you feel uncomfortable or someone being insistent on meeting up. You can report it to CEOP by clicking the image below, or the "Report online safety concerns" tab at the top of our website.
