Mrs Walker
Headteacher
I came to Hook Infant school in 1993 to join the Senior Leadership Team. I became Deputy Headteacher of Hook Infant School in 2006 and was subsequently seconded to a primary school in Farnborough. I was appointed to my current role as Headteacher in September 2009. Before I came to Hook, I taught in Woking at the Hermitage First School and I also worked with the Surrey Maths Advisory Team assisting the delivery of INSET across the County. I have worked for many years as an End of Key Stage One Moderator for Hampshire, visiting schools offering advice and guidance on assessment to Year 2 teaching staff. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening and going out for meals. I am very passionate about Hook Infant School and the community which it serves, education is the gateway to life and every child deserves the best possible opportunities to fulfil their potential.

I have lived in Hook since 1994, and my parents moved here in 1975, and one of my daughters in carrying on the tradition living in the village with her young family. I had a career in general business management and international marketing in the IT industry and retired in 2018. In 2020 I became a School Governor and joined the curriculum Committee with focus on English. I did a Psychology GCSE in 2000 with a focus on children and the impact of early years experiences – being put to good use now. My grandson attends the Infant School, and a granddaughter will follow him soon.

I joined the board of Governors in September 2020, as a Parent Governor., when my oldest child was in Year 2. Having attended Hook Infant School myself, we decided as a family to return to Hook when it was time for our own children to start school. I specialized in Early Years in my final year which gave me a deeper insight of how to support learning through play. I've always known that I wanted to be a teacher and I have thoroughly enjoyed the start of my teaching career so far. In my free time, I love spending time with family and friends as well as going out to watch football.

I volunteered as a Governor so I could use my experience to support not only the children who attend Hook Infants, but the staff, parents and the local community who have been so kind and welcoming to my family since we moved here.
